Rehab/Rehabilitation Counselor
My name is Bill, and one of my specialties as a full service counselor is rehab, or
rehabilitation counseling.
I hold a degree in Rehab Counseling from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
Center at Dallas, and I have over 20 years experience in counseling. I also hold a degree in
Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.
I work with persons living with Medical and Psychological concerns, issues, problems, and/or
aspects related to Disabilities and Impairments.

Rehabilitation Counseling is a specialized field of counseling centered on assisting
persons living with physical and/or psychological disabilities and impairments achieve
maximum physical, psychological, social, vocational and economic independence that
empowers and enhances their quality of life through meeting their fullest capacity and
accomplishing their life-goals. The counseling process focuses on the total-being, the
whole/complete-person in their environment; including family, work and social relationships, as
well as, physical and psychological aspects.
My Role As A Rehab Counselor includes, but is not limited to, personal guidance,
psychotherapy, individual assessment, evaluation of medical and psychological reports,
vocational guidance, job placement, and working with individuals and organizations to
eliminate environmental and social barriers for persons living with physical and/or
psychological disabilities and impairments.
My Mission is to maintain the principles outlined in the Rehabilitation Act as amended in 1998
. . . "respect for individual dignity, personal responsibility, self-determination, and pursuit of
meaningful careers based on informed choices by individuals living with disabilities and
impairments." Further, to remain a qualified and informed professional assisting individuals
living with physical and/or psychological disabilities and impairments in meaningful ways;
including, but not limited to, self-determination. Independence, meaningful employment, and full
community participation.
